Deity
Religion is important to most people in the area. In Saltmarsh the worshipped god is Valkur - God of Sailors, Tempests and War. There is a church to Valkur in Saltmarsh and, if your character worships Valkur, its possible you may know of the resident priest.
Though feel free to choose a different deity relevant to your background. See list of deities by Rank or by Alignment.
If you're a Cleric or Paladin then your religion choice is important, but it is unusual for someone to not believe in a specific god.
